The Mannin branch Celtic League environmental spokesman, Allen Moore, has submitted comment to the consultation on the Inshore Marine Zoning Plan it is set out below. In line with a recent AGM resolution the League calls once again for more preference to be afforded to indigenous fishermen:

Maib Salvages Scottish Trawler Louisa

News from The Celtic League:

A crab boat which sank with the loss of three lives of the Hebrides has been raised by the MAIB so that it can gather a clearer picture of why the vessels foundered.

The Louisa sank on 9 April as it lay at anchor in calm seas off Mingulay in the Western Isles.

The bodies of two crew members have been found. The skipper is still missing and presumed dead.

Frongoch is a village in Gwynedd north Wales. It is located close to the market town of Bala. It was the home of the Frongoch internment camp, used to hold Irish Republican prisoners from the 1916 Rising.  There were approximately 1,800 Irish prisoners in Frongoch, including prominent Irish revolutionaries Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith. Although enduring harsh conditions the Irish prisoners took the opportunity to exchange information and plan tactics for the next phase of the armed struggle for Irish freedom.

Time For A Manx National Broadcaster

Writing in his Scottish blog (link below) Scottish commentator Paul Kavanagh referenced the recent agreement on the BBC Charter and bemoaned the lack of a true National broadcaster in Scotland. Well the answer is a lot but this is a global problem and it is really International actions by governments that are needed.
