There is concern that a proposed Motorway bypass in Wales will setback the progress of a project which has reintroduced an iconic bird to wetlands it once populated.

“The proposed £1bn M4 relief road around Newport would cut through the first nesting site for common cranes in Wales in over 400 years, it has emerged.

The RSPB said the revelation, in a Welsh Government ecology report, was emblematic of wider environmental concerns about the scheme.

A five-month public inquiry into the plans begins on Tuesday.

Alexander Fleming FRS FRSE FRCS (6 August 1881 – 11 March 1955) was a Scottish biologist, pharmacologist and botanist, whose crucial discovery of penicillin saved the lives of millions of people all over the world. In September 1928 while studying influenza Alexander Fleming noticed mould had developed accidentally on a set of culture dishes being used to grow the staphylococci germ. The mould had created a bacteria-free circle around itself. He experimented further and named the active substance penicillin.

This has been followed up by a telephone call made by the Chair of KMTU directly to the Council of Europe in order to ensure that the full gravity of the communication and of the Boundary Commission's proposals and the threat they pose to the Cornish National Minority are fully understood.

We received the news today that the unelected quango, the Boundary Commission, have decided to cast aside all they were told last year and to continue to recommend a cross border Devonwall Constituency.

St David is the Patron Saint of Wales and March 1st is St David's Day. The first of March is recognised as a National Day throughout Wales. It is also a day of celebration for Welsh communities throughout the world and the Welsh flag with Y Ddraig Goch (the Red Dragon) is proudly raised. The date is tradionally seen as the date that Saint David died in 589. David was the son of the Prince of Powys and he went on to found a monastery on the site where Saint David's Cathedral now stands in Tyddewi/City of St David's in Sir Benfro/Pembrokeshire, Cymru/Wales.

There's a special event coming up at Dalby to mark Fairtrade Fortnight, where there's sure to be a warm welcome, along with a film made during a visit to Kathmandu and an opportunity to purchase some tasty Fairtrade products.

Update on Levant and the National Trust

About a dozen campaigners met with the local MP, Derek Thomas, at Levant Mine on Friday 24th February, 2017, to discuss the conduct of the National Trust, and its imposition of parking charges and a clutter of unsightly signboards on a World heritage Site and one close to many Cornish hearts.

A conference in Ireland this week has been considering the alarming decline in Atlantic Wild Salmon.

Despite a decade long conservation measure the decline has continued and factors thought to be involved in this include climate change and salmon fish farming which has lead to an increase in parasitic disease in both the salmon and sea trout.

It seems the oil spill following a collision between a Manx registered vessel and another ship off Chennai India is much worse than earlier thought,

The spill which we reported on earlier is now polluting 24km of coastline and the pictures of the shoreline pollution show this is a major incident.

Damage to marine life is likely to be extensive not just from the pollution but from the chemicals used to tackle the thick oil slick which is creeping inexorably along the coast.
