'Mobilize for a better world'

Langouet in Brittany is just a small town of 600 people but its Major is in trouble for defying the central authorities. He’s banned pesticides and he and his fellow citizens are taking other unilateral steps to protect their environment.

He’s in court this week but already this community of 600 has mobilized thousands in his support. His actions give a whole new meaning to being a ‘friend of the biosphere’. Perhaps the way to protect our environment is not to wait for Government and its Departments to act but take unilateral action. Of course you may end up in bother but if the end game is a better world so be it.

This report from 7seizh:

“Anti-pesticide decree: the UDB supports Daniel Cueff summoned to the administrative court

August 14, 2019

“The anti-pesticide order issued by Daniel Cueff, mayor of Langouet, on May 18, 2019, is a courageous and necessary act. The Prefect declared it illegal and summoned Daniel Cueff to the administrative court of Ille-et-Vilaine.

“The health of democracy lies in the ability of our society to mobilize to build a better world, in Brittany and elsewhere in the world.

“The Union Démocratique Bretonne supports Daniel Cueff, Mayor of Langouet, whom the state has decided to drag in front of the administrative court on August 22 to prevent him from protecting the health of his fellow citizens.
