Israeli Forces Continue Genocide Campaign Against Palestinians as they Bombard Civilians in Rafah

The Israel Defense Forces continue their campaign of killing and genocide against Palestinians as they bombard the city of Rafah. This is where over a million Palestinians  have fled since Israel attacked Gaza. The Israeli operation in Gaza’s Rafah city has been described as yet another war crime committed by Israel. Their attack comes just a day after Hamas approved Qatar and Egypt’s proposal for a ceasefire deal. Since the attacks on Gaza began at least 34,735 people in Gaza and wounded another 78,108. Israeli settler thugs, backed by the Israeli army has also continued their attacks on civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in the West Bank. 

The Israeli regime is also accused of trying to hide the war crimes being committed by them in attacking news journalism exposing the the truth about atrocities being committed against Palestinians.  Amnesty International have reported that: 

 "At least 92 Palestinian journalists have been killed in the occupied Gaza Strip over the last 6 months, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists no other war has taken so many journalists’ lives in such a short span over the course of the last 30 years.

According to Addameer, at least 45 Palestinian journalists are currently held in Israeli custody, 23 of them are held under administrative detention, while the fate of some others remains unknown and are subject to enforced disappearance."

Journalists have an essential job to document the reality on the ground and combat disinformation. At the same time as killing and detaining of journalists continues, Israel’s cabinet also unanimously voted to shut down Al Jazeera in the country on Sunday, immediately ordering the closure of its offices and a ban on the company’s broadcasts. This is not the first time Al Jazeera has been targeted by Israel. Netanyahu threatened to shut down its Jerusalem office back in 2017, and an Israeli missile destroyed the building housing the broadcaster’s office in Gaza in 2021. It is reported that a number of Al Jazeera journalists have been killed in Israeli firing or bombing, including during the current war in Gaza.

The attempts to supress the truth is also coming at a time when mass graves are being uncovered in the area occupied by Israeli forces. It has been reported that many of the bodies reportedly show “signs of torture and summary executions. Some of these mass graves have been found near the Al Shifa and Nasser hospitals.
