Combourg - Komborn

Combourg has lakeside restaurants and you can visit the chateau which is furnished in period style. The tourist office at Combourg is open throughout the year. The town is considered the "cradle of Romanticism" in French literature due to the renowned French writer François-René de Chateaubriand (4 September 1768 – 4 July 1848) who spent part of his youth in his family's castle, the Château de Combourg. He describes the village and medieval castle in his Mémoirs from Beyond the Grave. Image courtesy of Brittany Tourism.
