Breton and Cornish Piran Statue Celebrations in Falmouth

The spectacular Breton sculpture park La Vallée des Saints, (the Valley of the Saints) celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018 and will mark the milestone by unveiling its 100th giant statue in Falmouth on the 5th May, 2018.

Located on a feudal mound in central Brittany, the park immortalises the priests and monks from Cornwall, Ireland, Wales and Scotland who left their mark on the region 1,500 years ago, such as St Brieuc and St Malo.

Trevithick Day, Camborne - Saturday 28th April, 2018

Saturday 28th April, 2018 will again see thousands flock to Camborne to celebrate Richard Trevithick, that great Cornish engineer so sadly neglected by the British Parliament in 1828, as has been and still is usual in their handling of Cornwall and Cornish matters. But we celebrate despite their governments aim to subsume us as part of their bland greater England project so desired by the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP.

Here is the great man's story:

Richard Trevithick, was born in Illogan, Cornwall, in 1771.

News about Kresen Kernow - The Cornish National Library & Archive, Redruth

Construction work is moving on apace at Kresen Kernow.

The roof tiles have gone on the old brewhouse and most of the windows are in.

The spine that runs across the roof line and ends in the viewing window on the first floor has been covered in copper and it looks great!

The gable ends of the brewhouse are just about finished and work has started on linking the brewhouse to the new archive store.

The archive store is just about complete and it’s huge.

Dear Friend,

Last weekend (10 March 2018) the event ‘Planning for People or Profit?’ was attended by scores of town and parish councillors environmental associations, local action groups and other activists in Cornwall. The common concern to everyone is over-development and a Planning system that strongly favours profit-seeking housing corporations over the needs of communities.
