The Welshest Pub, The Welshest Shop and the Welshest Street in the World

The Cambrian news are reporting that “The Welshest pub, Welshest shop and Welshest street in the world have now been officially identified, following a competition in which all the winners were nominated and voted by the public.”

The competition was sponsored by Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig, a civic group which gets it’s funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities Development Programme which in turn is sponsored by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

From the Cambrian News: “ Becws Islyn in Aberdaron clinched the title “Welshest Shop in the World” and Black Boy Inn from Caernarfon took first spot as “Welshest Pub in the World”. Stryd y Plas, Caernarfon, came out on top as the “Welshest Street in the World”.

As one of Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig’s first pilot projects, the Welshest Businesses in the World Awards were established to highlight how the Welsh language is one of the most valuable assets in Gwynedd.

In Gwynedd, the name of an historical Kingdom in Northwest Wales that covers the local government areas of Gwynedd and the Isle of Anglesey, two-thirds of the population report being able to speak the Celtic tongue.
