The Welsh community in Ohio

Interesting documentary here I came across on S4C about the Welsh soprano Gwawr Edwards and a tour she made of the Welsh community in Ohio. It was made sometime ago and is getting a rerun on the online platform of S4C on BBC iplayer.

We are of course in the Celtic League well familiar with the Welsh diaspora community in Argentina where the League has a branch. In addition the League has periodically built links to the Scottish community in Nova Scotia however we have had less focus on the expatriate communities of the US midwest and of course Ohio is also home to a large community of Manx descent which through the North American Manx also have have strong links to Mann. The S4C programme shows the depth of influence of Welsh culture in Ohio which is enduring and vibrant.

The item also gives an interesting background on the wider Edwards family and their obvious commitment to the language and culture of Wales. As with all iplayer offerings its of limited duration so if you are interested watch it soon:
