Penzance Language Festival Strengthens the Celtic Tongue of Cornwall

A recent addition to the Transceltic index of Celtic Festivals is the Penzance Cornish Language Festival. 2017 will see the Festival's inaugural year.

“The nine-day festival bonanza created to celebrate the uniqueness of Cornish language, culture and heritage will take place at The Acorn theatre in Penzance, the arts and entertainment heart of the town.  Organised by Cornish Quest, a small charity which has been established to encourage the education of Cornish history, culture, language and law, the Kernewek Festival is funded by a successful application to the National Lottery 'Celebrate' fund. The festival will start on February 25 with the conference entitled The Framework Convention, the European Charter and the Cornish Language, led by the Council of Europe's Dr. Tove Malloy, a world expert in cultural and ethnic minorities.” - CornwallLive

Cornish Quest, the Festival sponsor, descibes itself as follows on their web page which is linked below: " Cornish Quest is a small charity based in Cornwall which has been established to encourage the education of Cornish history, culture, language and law. Cornish Quest was registered as a charity in 2009 and its Charity Commission registration number is 1129987. The organisation is run by a small group of Trustees. We believe Cornish history and culture should be more widely accessible to all and we are committed to supporting the teaching and learning of Cornish heritage for people of all ages."
