New Tory Administration in Cornwall cuts ties with Brussels

As a result of the recent elections to Cornwall Council held on 6th May, 2021, 15.2% of the electorate in Cornwall voted Conservative and put in place a Conservative administration at Cornwall Council.

Already, in an act of inward looking malice so typical of her political party, Cllr Linda Taylor the new leader of the Council, has announced the closure of Cornwall's office in Brussels.

The Cornish campaign group has written to Cornwall Council and its Leader in the following terms:

Kernow

11 Mis Me 2021

Sirs and Mesdames

Closure of Cornwall Council Office in Brussels

Please can this communication be forwarded to the appropriate person for response?

We note from the mainstream media that the new Conservative regime at Cornwall Council has announced the closure of Cornwall's office in Brussels in order to save £50,000.

Whilst we do not find this early expression of right wing and inward looking action unexpected, we write to request if the trade arrangements with Brittany and elsewhere secured by the former independent Leader of Cornwall Council, Councillor Julian German and his team will continue?

It is very apparent that whilst England's Prime Minister Johnson (he has no authority or following anywhere else in the islands) and his followers secured Brexit by telling outright lies and misleading the electorate, making false promises to Cornwall's fishermen and other traditional industries, it is a shame that Cornwall Council's 'junta', elected by a mere 15.2% of Cornwall's electorate already seeks to rub salt in to open wounds with more false promises of aid from the distant Westminster Government.

We wait with bated breath on the future short sighted actions to be put in place by the new Council.

We look forward to your response whilst informing you that we make all our emails and responses public by publishing them on social media.
