(Lord) Alf Dubs - Still fighting for the oppressed

Report here on Crown Dependency News about (Lord) Alf Dubs asking what support the Crown Dependencies are giving to provide homes for youngsters from conflict zones in the Middle East.

Dubs himself was a child refugee from Nazi Europe so he understands at first hand the plight of these in some instances very young people who have lost parents and are surviving in dire circumstances.

Dubs now in his mid Eighties is a stalwart fighter for human rights. Indeed in the early 1980s he supported a campaign by the TGWU (IOM) to have the right of individual petition under the European Convention of Human Rights restored to Manx citizens. Together with George (now Lord) Foulkes he arranged for myself (as TGWU District Chairman) at the time to meet with Home Office officials over the issue. We were unsuccessful at the time but about a decade on the rights were restored,

It's good to see that Lord Dubs is still fighting to help those in need or whose rights are abused. A great man!
