Irish woman's marriage to a ghastly pirate ghost!

Some say that you have to be married to a person to know what they are really like. Perhaps this is particularly the case when the marriage is to the ghost of a 300 hundred year old pirate. A recent article in the newspaper The Irish Post reports that: "A woman who claims she married the ghost of a 300-year-old Haitian pirate says she needed an exorcism after their relationship turned sour."

Amanda Teague, from Downpatrick (Irish: Dún Pádraig) in the north of Ireland married the ghost of a pirate in 2016, named appropriately enough Jack, who had allegedly been hanged in the 1700s for piracy in the Caribbean. Just two weeks into the marriage Amanda described experiencing health problems. She was eventually admitted to hospital with sepsis. When undergoing treatment she said she had to remove her wedding ring which appears to have broken the link with the pirate.  After eventually deciding to end the relationship Jack threatened to kill her. In December, Amanda went through with an exorcism and is now rid of her former partner, Jack.

As reported in the Irish Post "She says that her health problems have miraculously cleared up since and that her experience has taught her to stay away from spirits and the dead from now on - or just not to marry them, at least."
