Chaos and carnage - it's just TT 2018!

There is the usual chaos and carnage as the Isle of Man TT 2018 is in full swing. Deaths and injuries are of course the norm almost expected these days but an added dimension is bikes crashing into cars on the course. In addition sat navs are definitely not de rigueur as folk seem determined to go against the one way flow on the mountain section. Added to this year's ‘diversions’ an irreverent spectator who failed to move when directed by marshals his punishment was severe no more TT for him. He is however probably in the safest place for the TT period. You certainly get the impression with just half of practice week complete and more fans on the way the situation is more chaotic than ever

You wonder if the ‘festival’ is as festive as some would have it. My views are well known - I loath it. So do many others but most fail to speak out for fear of being drowned out by the catcalls and jeers of those whose view of the event tolerates no dissent - sod them I say! These days even Manx culture bodies get in on the act as well but its not part of my culture or tradition!

The Police of course are ‘in full control’ of the mayhem or that is the impression you would get if you read the missives on the Road Policing Unit Facebook site which increasingly seem to be compiled by someone aspiring in the longer term to become a journalist for a ‘lads mag’. Their Facebook banalities are balanced out only by the sycophants who are the ‘RPU Facebook groupies’

Is this the modern vibrant image that an aspiring world class business community want to send to the world? Apparently so the Department of Enterprise pour in the money and cost it seems is no object. But of course there is always a cost. There is always a cost!
