‘There is clearly a lot of media excellence in the Isle of Man’!

How did I miss this MTTV gem I puzzle then I realise it went up only yesterday but appears to be about that media event that ‘Cannes shaky man’ was interviewed at last week.

This lady doesn’t jig around but talks calmly and serenely to Paul while constantly smiling. You know within a couple of seconds it's another media luvvie event and just to reinforce it around he pans. Are, I wonder all these folk, media folk? If we have such a plethora of talent then why is mainstream media so dire.

They aren’t all media as Alf Cannan MHK hoves into view. Alf seems laid back obviously enjoys sipping a squash or glass of wine in government house and thinking ‘one day this will be mine’. I don’t see Manx Radios Tim Glover there but probably when he heard Alf was on the guest list he gave it a miss. However Alf seems less manic than usual and for once is not shouting at anyone.

The Lt Governor pops up as a minor irritation and to remind me we are still a colony. I reflect I should have made my final Illiam Dhone speech a blistering attack on this colonial relic but it's too late now as regards the Illiam Dhone commemoration I’m toast.

‘Smiley woman’ drones on with Paul asking all the usual questions about us not having a dedicated TV media (other than him). I wonder if he would share a room on my trip to Transnistria and bring the camera. Accomodation in the best hotels in Tiraspol the capital are astonishingly cheap. The only question mark over the Transnistria jaunt is - given I turned down Putin's invitation to that Moscow conference I might get a visit from that GRU heavy whose pic is always on the BBC and likes Cathedrals. It might be worth the chance I’m sure the Transnistrian luvvies would be astonished that with a GDP like ours we don’t have a ‘telly’ station. Meanwhile they in some disputed impoverished backwater in eastern Europe have four!

My Transnistria day dream is interrupted as ‘smiley woman’ says ‘there is clearly a lot of media excellence in the Isle of Man’!

Paul has done it again made my day. Buoyed by these pearls of wisdom I’m off to Peel Castle to see what seabirds are around. If you see some guy gazing through ‘binocs’ and chuckling to himself it’s me perusing the wildlife and thinking about Transnistria and ‘smiley woman’!
