The Secret Policeman's 'Balls'

I think the Chief Constable and the Lubyanka crew are losing the plot if this story is to be believed. Either that or there’s to many of them with too little to do. Come to think of it with cuts everywhere and the population falling how do numbers in the force stand up to scrutiny? (link):

When Castletown festival becomes the focus of controversy even though an FOI request showed it to be relatively well managed over several years you start to think of the saying ‘idle police hands’ etc.

Additionally it seems to be a geographic thing as North of the Isle of Man’s ‘metaphorical 38th Parallel’ in Peel the Carnival on Sunday is unaccompanied by no coppers agnst - maybe the Peel Plod are more LIBERAL!

I’m sure the Island has serious problems I mean let’s face it at certain times of year the death toll in sporting events would have any other sane society wincing.

Meanwhile periodically courtesy of off Island media we learn that there are financial sharks from the four corners of the globe here - for god’s sake folk even linked to the Camorra. Of course that’s all part of our global business so lets find a policing issue to distract from the real ‘global nasties’.

Pub life is in decline. Much to the ire of my liver I’m of the pub generation and compared to the past with the exception of the odd pay day in the month pubs seem dead even in summertime. Young people these days seem more discerning, sensible and health conscious and presumably have more pressing issues to attend to with their cash.

Meanwhile for officialdom time has stood still. It’s almost as if the licensing trade is the last lifeline for the Police force, Jane Hughes and her acolytes in the Courts.

Still despite the fact the policeman's lot is not a happy one the average cops salary should ensure that they steer clear of any recourse to food banks. Anyway in times of stress reputedly CC Gary Roberts serves up some cakes. Perhaps he should run of a batch for the southern branch of the 'Guardia Civil' to sweeten their disposition!
