Mann: 'A pivotal time for broadcasting' - You have to smile!

Manx Radio announces the arrival of its latest MD at what it describes as a ‘pivotal time for broadcasting’.

‘Give my head peace’ haven’t Tynwald just approved ‘John the Baptists’ (aka Tim Baker MHK) status quo resolution with the caveat that Chris Thomas MHK chase up the BBC for a bit of a rebate. Chris mind you on the charm front may just succeed - imagine sending Treasury Minister ‘Alfred C’ he would just shout at everyone!

Meanwhile our new man comes with an impressive CV after an illustrious career at BFBS which was is kind of the twilight zone of broadcasting. Personally I was hoping that our new man, if he had to be an immigrant, would have come from Transnistria which could teach the Isle of Man a think or to about broadcasting. However off Island employment prospects seem repetitiously Anglocentric.

Back in the days when I bothered to scan the skies with my old one metre motorised dish I used to peer at Eutelsat 10 (East) and its plethora of (encrypted) BFBS channels and think ‘what is the point’ - quite!

What I ask myself will Paul Moulton make of all this - can’t wait!
