Brecon Castle - Castell Aberhonddu

This is on the site of a late eleventh century Norman motte and bailey castle with the remains of the motte and later thirteenth century stone keep are visible in the Bishops palace. After swopping hands between the Welsh and English on several occasions the castle was eventually rebuilt in stone by the English in the in the early-mid thirteenth century. After falling into decay the remains of the castle was eventually converted into a hotel. The Castle is in Brecon town northwest of Abergavenny.
