Newgrange Stone Circle

This a stone circle in County Meath that surrounds a burial mound dating back to between 3100 and 2900BC. It is thought to be associated with the winter solstice sun rise. Within the mound is a large chambered passage leading to a large chamber and smaller chambers. It forms part of the Bru na Boinne Neolithic complex with Knowth and Dowth passage tombs and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
