Doe Castle/Caisleán na dTuath

This is a castle built in the sixteenth century with a central tower surrounded by defensive wall and overlooking the sea on three sides. It was the seat of the Clan Suihbne and where Owen Roe O'Neil landed to lead the Irish rebellion in 1642.

Getting there

The castle is located close to Creeslough which is north along the N56 from Kilmacrenan. The castle is east from Creeslough about a mile north from the Creeslough-Carraig Airt in the south of Sheep Haven Bay.
