On this day in 1497, Michael Joseph (An Gof) and Thomas Flamank of Bodmin, were hung drawn and quartered for leading a Cornish army against the English government of the day.

People forget the reasons why this happened. The primary cause was the response by the impoverished Cornish population to the raising of war taxes by King Henry VII to raise money for his campaign against Scotland.

Support For Wales Football Team From Brittany

Welcome support for the Welsh Football team came from the pupils of Diwan Plésidy School (Skolaj Diwan Plijidi) in Brittany (Breizh) who sent the team some good luck messages. As reported by the Football Association of Wales (Welsh: Cymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru) pupils wrote 'Wales, we love you' and 'Welcome, you are at home' in the Breton language.

Wales Secure Place In Quarter Finals Of Euro 2016

Wales secured their place in the quarter finals of Euro 2016 with a 1-0 victory over Northern Ireland in Paris yesterday. The breakthrough for Wales came with 15 minutes left to play as Bale’s cross was turned into his own net by Gareth McAuley. The next match for Wales at the 2016 UEFA European Championship (the international men's football championship of Europe) will now be played on Friday 1st July at Lille. Disaffected Opponents Of Independence Flock To SNP Post Brexit

Call For The Referendum On Irish Reunification

Sinn Fein leader Martin McGuinness has called for a referendum on Irish reunification stressing the implications for the Brexit vote on new border controls.

Although Arlene Foster Stormont's First Minister has insisted Northern Ireland's place in the Brexiting UK is safe.

Martin McGuinness, the Sinn Fein leader and Deputy First Minister believes Irish people should be given a chance to vote on their future, saying there was a 'democratic imperative' to allow people to vote on reunification.

Isle of Man: Ruth Keggin to Launch New Album

Manx Gaelic vocalist, Ruth Keggin, will be sharing her success in the music industry with the launch of her second album, Turrys (Journey) as part of two concerts this weekend.

Following on from her critically acclaimed debut, solo album Sheear (Westward) in 2014, Ruth has performed live sessions on both BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland, as well as at the British Museum in London and at high profile festivals such as Glasgow based Celtic Connections and the European favourite, Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany.

Euros 2016 - Congratulations Republic of Ireland

Congratulations to Republic of Ireland, who beat Italy 1 - 0 at the Euro Championship in France last night. Robbie Brady guided a perfect Wes Hoolahan ball into the back of the net with only six mintes of the game remaining. Previous results also mean, that despite last nights loss, Italy are also through to the last 16 teams. Ireland will take on hosts France in Lyon next as we move on to the knock-out phase of this competition. Wales have also qualified into the next round.
