Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League again declares solidarity with Brittany!

A message from An Kesuntans Keltek Scoren Kernewek - The Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League.

"Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League again declares solidarity with Brittany!

In the photograph we see Pierre Le Moine at his headquarters in Brittany. Pierre has close relatives who live and work in Cornwall and who speak fluent English, Cornish, French and Breton. One is a full member of the Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League and a founder member of Cornish Solidarity and long time campaigner for Cornish recognition which has now been achieved.

Pierre is one of those helping to organise next month's huge rally in Paris by the Breton people. It is hoped that 100,000 Bretons and supporters will turn out for a truly massive demonstration calling for Breton recognition and inclusion in the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, for the restoration of the proper borders to Brittany which has been broken up by the French state (a little like the Westminster Government tried to do with Cornwall and the 'Devonwall' project!), for proper protections for the Breton people and their Celtic language.

Breton is extremely similar to Cornish. In our history and to this day, the Bretons and the Cornish are the same people. The ties between Breizh (Brittany) and Kernow (Cornwall) are incredibly strong.

Although growing older now, Pierre is passionate about his homeland of Brittany. He has been active for his entire life in the Breton cultural and political scene and has endured beatings by the gendarmes and political opponents and even served time in a French prison for his beliefs. His first love is Brittany. Pierre wears the Red Bonnet, now worn by many active in demands to restore nationhood to Brittany.

We salute Pierre and our brothers and sisters in Breizh as they strive to peacefully achieve those aims. We stand in solidarity with Breizh!"
