Canadian tax justice body christens Mann the ‘Isle of Sham’!

We have reported on the CBC - KPMG - IOM Tax evasion allegations previously.

The link below is to a well researched CBC 20 minute documentary which covers the whole saga to date.

It looks as if the affair is set to run as the allegations are now starting to embroil the Canadian government.

The gist of the documentaries conclusions is that some sort of backroom deal is being cobbled together ensure the issue does not come under scrutiny in open Court. Obviously tax justice campaigners oppose this.

Manx government of course as is usual is keeping its head down on this - so much for the Islands much vaunted transparency.

This week Chief Minister Allan Bell indignantly refuted United States claims that the Isle of Man is a tax haven. Tell that to ‘Canadians for Tax Fairness’ who are currently also running the CBC documentary on their web site under the heading ‘Isle of Sham’!
